Mold Disinfectants: The Solution to Mold Problems
Molds are tiny organisms that live and grow in damp places. Places like ductwork are prime locations for collecting mold, bacteria, mildew and dust. Modern homes are more airtight and energy efficient. They allow very little fresh air to enter the house. This results in the promotion of mold growth. The Process of Disinfecting It is better to prevent mold than to have to fix a problem. However, if you already suspect a mold problem in your home, you can still solve your mold problems. If you are suffering from a mold problem, you can clean the area with a bleach solution and then follow the three steps of disinfection, oxidation and control. This will eradicate your mold problems. Airing Out the Structure An air purification system can be used to reduce mold, bacteria, mold and fungi. This system uses ozone, which is a naturally occurring gas found outdoors. Ozone reacts with water creating hydrogen peroxide. Both of these items are disinfectants and work well together in humid areas to remove mold. Well-ventilated areas are less prone to mold. Over an extended time, properly ventilating a structure will stop a mold problem. This is due to the amount of oxygen in the area. Oxygen eventually breaks down many organic items into smaller parts (called oxidation). Fire and ozone are nature's top two oxidizers. However, burning down a structure to remove mold is extreme. Too much ozone exposure is also unhealthy. Therefore, letting oxygen do its work through proper ventilation is the best way to go. Using Technology to Solve Mold Problems There are new ways to remove particles like mold from the air. Physical filtration is one way. Most air filters work this way. Air flows through a physical filter and the particles get caught in the filter and they are removed from the air. These types of filters have certain limitations, though. Air flow patterns can develop leaving some areas unfiltered. Filters full of mold and bacteria do not help, so they must be changed often. Air ionizers are a better solution. These filters work by charging stable ions with an electric charge emitted by an antenna from the ionizer. These charged ions grab onto particles like mold, kind of like magnets to metal, and eventually fall to the floor. This removes them from the air and makes them easier to clean up.
